Report: Everton handed boost in their pursuit of €50m attacker as other suitors back out

Everton have been linked with the Napoli winger Hirving Lozano for a while now. According to Calciomercato (via Sportwitness), the Toffees are the only club after the Mexican right now. Napoli want to recoup most of the €50m they paid for Lozano and the other suitors like Sevilla think the transfer would cost them too much. If that is true, this is certainly a boost for Everton. If they are the only ones after Lozano, they will be able to force Napoli to lower their demands and negotiate a reasonable fee. Apparently, Carlo Ancelotti really wants to sign the player and that has kept Everton in the running despite the other parties backing out of the chase. Lozano is a top-quality attacker and if he can regain his confidence, he could make a big difference for Everton in the final third. The...

Midfielder claims Newcastle teammate could play for Barcelona if he was focused

Matt Ritchie has heaped praise on his Newcastle teammate Jonjo Shelvey. According to the 30-year-old versatile Newcastle star, Shelvey could play for the likes of Barcelona if he stays focused. As per Ritchie, the Newcastle central midfielder has exceptional ability and he could blow teams away if he played for the La Liga giants. However, Shelvey is a big fan of golf and he is often distracted because of that. He said (quotes via Chronicle): “I remember playing against him as a kid – I think he scored a hat-trick, he was unbelievable. “He’s got his moves – ending up at Newcastle. I say to him on regular occasions: ‘if you had your head screwed on you could play for Barcelona’. He’s that good. He’s got everything. “I’ve said to him so many times ‘if you just got head down and focused just ...

Since then, the 25-year-old has progressed rapidly and he has been outstanding for Atalanta this season. It will be interesting to see if Villa try and bring him back to the club. The fact that he admires the club will come as a boost to the Premier League if they are truly keen on signing him once again. Atalanta will not w...

Popular pundit is sure ‘Celtic and Rangers are looking’ at 23-goal star this summer

Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove has been in fine form this season and Noel Whelan believes that the likes of Rangers and Celtic will be keen on him. The 23-year-old has scored 23 goals so far this season and he would be a superb addition to either side. Both Morelos and Edouard have been linked with a move away this summer and if they do move on, Celtic and Rangers should look to bring Cosgrove in. Whelan said to Football Insider: “I am sure they will have their eye on him but they will face competition from a lot of Championship teams. “He has had a very good season. A goalscorer who will be at the right price and the right age. He is not even in his best years yet. “A player that has a lot of improving to do and could be a good commodity and a good buy for many clubs. He will not cost a ma...

The Foxes could be in the Champions L...

Report: Tottenham set to benefit if Newcastle land £19m-a-yr target this month

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine was relieved of his duties earlier this season and he is free to join the Magpies. However, ESPN claims that Newcastle will have to pay the Londoners a sum of £12.5 million if they hire Pochettino this month. The Magpies will have to wait until next month if they want to bring him in for nothing. Tottenham paid their former manager £12.5m in compensation after his sacking. Apparently, there is a clause that says anyone wishing to appoint the Argentine within six months of his departure from Spurs will have to repay the compensation amount in full. It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks. Newcastle are in the middle of a takeover and they plan to hire a top-...

Ex-Spurs manager finally responds to reports linking him with the Newcastle job

Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas has finally responded to reports linking him with the Newcastle United job, claiming a return to the English Premier League isn’t on the cards. The Portuguese managed Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the English top-flight before leaving for Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2014. Villas-Boas had a stint with Chinese Super League’s Shanghai SIPG prior to joining Marseille last May, and he is one of the managers that has been tipped to succeed Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park once Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’s £300 million takeover of the Magpies goes through. The 42-year-old has ruled himself out of the running for the job, though, and would-be Newcastle owners will have to look elsewhere. “I do not want to return to the Premier League. I have already do...

‘I’m currently watching 240 players’ – Celtic chief makes massive claim

Celtic’s new head of recruitment Gary Penrice has claimed that the Hoops are currently monitoring 240 players as they look to make quality additions to their squad this summer and going forward. Hoops head of football operations Nicky Hammond brought in the former Leicester City, Stoke City and Everton scout last month, and despite the suspension of major footballing activities across the globe as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, he has continued to keep tabs on prospective signings. It’s global. I am currently watching 240 players,” Penrice told Bristol Live. “Obviously I can’t travel to s...

Report: Serie A giants in talks with super agent to engineer Everton exit for striker

The Italy international moved to Goodison Park from Juventus for an initial £29 million last summer, but has scored just once in 26 appearances for the Toffees and is out of favour in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order. Kean scored seven goals in five starts over the course of 16 Serie A games for the Old Lady last term, and he has also been linked with Inter Milan as a return back home could appeal to him. The 20-year-old still has over four years left on his Everton contract and it remains to be seen if the club will be willing to let him go a...
