Since the pandemic began we’ve seen our lives change in so many ways. This goes without saying. One of the more minor but still noteworthy ways in which it’s changed is what we wear on a day-to-day basis. Even though I’ve worked from home for several years now, I’ve seen a shift in my wardrobe over the past few months. Specifically, it’s become less trend-driven and more streamlined and comfort-focused (for the time being, at least). My basics are in constant rotation, and when I do shop these days, more often than not its for something I could feasibly wear out in the world and at home. Sometimes I miss carrying handbags to places besides quick runs to the supermarket, or putting on a new pair of heels, or even wearing 100% cotton jeans, but practicality is p...
Even though it was 18 years ago, it’s hard to forget Halle Berry’s turn as Bond girl Jinx in 2002’s Die Another Day (which happens to be the same year she won her Oscar for Monster’s Ball). And one of the most unforgettable scenes was the one in the orange bikini. You know the one—Berry walked down the beach in a string bikini and holster and everyone lost their minds. If “breaking the internet” was a thing back then, she would’ve. So why are we bringing this up nearly two decades later? Well, Berry just graced our Instagram feeds with a very similar photo of her walking down the beach in a very similar belted orange bikini. And just like that, we want an orange bikini of our own. If that’s the case for you too, keep scrolling to shop our fa...
Welcome to our newest editorial initiative, Who What Wear Spotlight, where we’ll be using our editorial platform, social following, and ad inventory to turn the spotlight on small businesses that need our support now more than ever. Each week, we’ll be highlighting a new fashion or beauty company. If you own a small brand and would like to be considered for the program, please apply here. This year has been challenging for the most established of fashion brands, and so small emerging labels have understandably taken a big hit, hence why we established our Spotlight series. The brands that launched during lockdown faced a situation they could have never imagined when planning for their launch, however, Tacita Brown decided to go ahead and open her clothing brand Cro-Che in the m...
Similar to “dad” sandals, Birkenstocks and Crocs, flip-flops are one of the previously sidelined summer shoes that have experienced a high-fashion makeover over the last year. Long disregarded by fashion-lovers due to their old school aesthetic or casual appearance, one-by-one these sandal styles have been welcomed in by the world’s most stylish and in turn seen a dramatic rise to social-media fame. While they never had the overtly uncool associations of velcro sandals (oh, how times have changed), for a long time, flip-flops were not considered a shoe worthy of any context other than the beach. That is, until the likes of The Row had their say, creating an oh-so-elegant iteration in luxe leather. Of course, leather sandals are hardly a revelation, however, this 2020 tren...
The first fashion week of a new era has arrived. Last season, Copenhagen Fashion Week officially established itself as a trailblazer of the sustainable fashion movement. That commitment remains this season, but as the first event on the fashion calendar, the organization was also unexpectedly tasked with determining what fashion week looks like in the coronavirus era. After having attended the event three times in the past, I was confident that Copenhagen would be able to meet the moment—and it certainly did. Denmark has been frequently cited as a country with one of the best responses to COVID-19, so the fashion week team was able to proceed with a mix of in-person, digital, and hybrid events. Many of the physical shows took advantage of the sunny Copenhagen weather this week and were he...
Since working from home, I’ve fallen into a rut of wearing the same pair of jeans and rotating between a handful of T-shirts and blouses. I’ve therefore accidentally made most of my treasured clothes redundant and have lacked any inspiration to think about new outfits when I’m barely leaving the house. But I’m determined to dive back into my wardrobe and find some joy in getting dressed again. To start this, I delved through my Saved images on Instagram. I spend more hours than I’d like to admit on this app a week and always save the outfits that I’d like to copy myself. So for those looking for some summer outfit inspiration (that feels realistic for what’s in store for this month), I’m sharing 44 outfits from my saved folders. Whether you&...

They often say opposites attract, and it’s not too uncommon to find that two things that should not go together somehow work. (Anyone who has ever mixed chocolate and popcorn while at the cinema should know what I’m talking about?) Traditionally, I wouldn’t say that summer dresses and boots have made the most sensible union, but recently, I have seen a few outfits that have managed to convince me otherwise. A strappy summer dress and a chunky winter boot may be items of clothing that are on complete opposite ends of the wardrobe spectrum, but I think this juxtaposition is part of the reason they work so well. From minidresses and knee highs to slip dresses and Chelsea boots, there are a few pairings that seem to make the most sense. Anna Sarlvit exemplified the first per...
Given the fact we’re currently in the midst of a summer heatwave, it might sound strange to be talking about boots. Though autumn is not too far away, and with it will come a whole host of new seasonal trends to explore and analyse. If the runways are any indication, over-the-knee boots will be the number one footwear hit of the season, as the shoe style was seen throughout the Autumn/Winter 2020 shows, spanning Proenza Schouler, Victoria Beckham, Bottega Veneta and Khaite. Often featuring an angular square toe and mid-level heel, this season we’ve seen the silhouette lenghten from year’s past when knee-high boots were ever-present. Heather Gramston, head of womenswear at Browns also agrees that over-the-knee boots are having a moment. Speaking of the Autumn/Winter 2020 ...
This year marks my 10th anniversary, as it’s an entire decade of my false lash-wearing. At this point, I’d say we were going pretty steady. I made the decision to shift from layers of mascara to strip lashes because my makeup routine was taking way too long. Over the years I’ve mastered the craft and can apply my strip lashes in any given situation (and with one hand). Whether it’s on a plane, train or cramped in a pocket mirror. Bragging time over, but they’re really not as tricky to apply as you might think. It only requires practice, patience and good glue. I have my go-to batch of lashes that I always use, so I thought I’d try out some of the false lashes that are on the market, to see which ones are the best. It has been 10 years after all and my ...
Obviously, I love beauty products. Even when I’m not writing about them, I’m using, browsing and shopping for them. But there’s a whole lot of noise in the beauty industry, and it often feels like there are too many products demanding our attention. After trying probably thousands of products, I know what works for me and what doesn’t. I also believe that there shouldn’t be a product just for the sake of it—it needs to add something different or useful to the market. So while I have an extensive list of the products I’ll always use and go back to, there are some that simply just don’t work for me. You’re probably used to reading about beauty editors’ favourite beauty buys, so keep scrolling to find out the products I’ll never buy ...
