Thin “Lzzy”: Halestorm, Judas Priest, and Alice in Chains Members Rock Thin Lizzy’s “Bad Reputation”: Watch

An all-star group of musicians has come together for a quarantine version of the Thin Lizzy classic “Bad Reputation”. Halestorm singer Lzzy Hale is joined by current and former members of Judas Priest, Alice in Chains, and Machine Head for the socially distant performance. Along with Lzzy’s vocals, the rousing rendition of the title track from Thin Lizzy’s 1977 Bad Reputation album features Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, and former Machine Head members Phil Demmel (guitar) and Dave McClain (drums). Demmel posted the performance on his YouTube channel, writing, “I invited my buds Dave McClain (Sacred Reich/Machine Head), Richie Faulkner (Judas Preist), Mike Inez (Alice in Chains, Ozzy, BLS, pretty much every band) and resident Bad-Ass Lzzy Ha...

Body Count Unleash Socially Distant Video for “Point the Finger” Featuring Power Trip’s Riley Gale: Stream

Body Count’s Ice-T, photo by Matt Akana / Power Trip’s Riley Gale, photo by Jon Hadusek Thrash veterans Body Count released their new album, Carnivore, in early March, as the coronavirus pandemic was unfolding. The band couldn’t gather to shoot a video for the album’s latest single, “Point the Finger”, so they all filmed themselves on cell phones while in quarantine. The track and video feature appearances by Power Trip’s Riley Gale, who has become one of the most distinct voices in modern thrash, particularly crossover thrash — of which Power Trip and Body Count are mutual practitioners. The video was produced and edited by Jay Rodriguez and begins with a monologue from Ice-T, who pulls down a bandana face covering and addresses the camera: “What’s up everybody? You’re not bei...

Joe Exotic Donated to Trump; Now His Legal Team Heads to White House for Pardon

Netflix docuseries Tiger King follows the real-life drama of a few big cat-loving villains, some of whom have become heralded celebrities (albeit ironically) since the TV show aired. Now, it looks like there’s some dirt on Tiger King antihero Joe Exotic that may dissuade fans from rooting for him to get out of jail: he donated to Donald Trump during his presidential run in 2016. Four years ago, Exotic paid $1,000 for a meet-and-greet at a Trump campaign outside Oklahoma City, reports TMZ. At one point, he stepped outside the home where the event was being held to smoke a cigarette. When he tried to head back inside, the Secret Service allegedly blocked him and said re-entry wasn’t allowed. He believes it’s because he showed his ID to get back inside and the agents saw his concealed-carry p...

Incubus Frontman Brandon Boyd Covers Beach House’s “Myth”: Stream

Like many musicians these days, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd has been recording new material to pass the time in quarantine. Earlier this month, the veteran rocker put his own spin on Ricky and Morty song “Goodbye Moonmen”; now, Boyd has shared a cover of the 2012 Beach House single “Myth”. While Beach House’s Bloom original unfurled like a blanket of dream pop, the allure of Boyd’s rendition is found it in its simplicity. The Incubus leader croons across spare guitar strums, effectively turning the track into an aching acoustic rock ballad. Hear it below. Editors’ Picks For more of Incubus, fans may need to lean hard on Boyd’s surprise covers — at least for the next few months. This afternoon, the band announced on Facebook that it was officially canceling its US tour with 311...

Zeds Dead Takes a Leap Into Future House With Funkin Matt

Teaming up for the second time since their September collaboration, “Feel So” featuring Fiora, Zeds Dead and Funkin Matt are back with a future house remix of Biicla‘s “Deeper.” The track was released today via Good Luck Have Fun Records, the label behind young creatives Whethan and Oliver Tree. The track takes on a completely new personality from Biicla’s original, using only snippets of MODENESS‘ original vocals and the melody of the build and drop. By upping the pitch of the lyrics to a Galantis-esque chant and doubling the BPM, the dreamy chillwave track was transformed into a punchy exploration of trance with future house synths and reverb.  It’s apparent the song was a true collaboration between the two vastly different artists. Ze...

Take a Look Inside This Eerie Socially Distanced Concert In Arkansas

Earlier this month, we reported on the nation’s first ostensible socially distanced concert to arise out of the COVID-19 pandemic, a show in Arkansas headlined by country-rock singer and Bishop Gunn frontman Travis McCready. The show, planned at Fort Smith venue TempleLive, immediately became a controversial topic in the music industry at large due to its potential safety-related repercussions. After the planned concert went viral, Arkansas’ government issued a cease-and-desist letter to TempleLive, who metaphorically ripped it to shreds and moved forward with the show anyway. Power to the people. TempleLive’s 1,100-person maximum capacity was diminished to accommodate 229 seats, which were sporadically filled with masked revelers. Those patrons were requir...
