A ‘RuneScape’ Board Game and Tabletop RPG Is In the Works
Steamforged Games has officially announced a RuneScape board game and a tabletop role playing game (TTRPG) book. According to reports, fans of the longtime MMORPG will be able to get their hands on the board game and TTRPG book later this year. Steamforged shared that both games will highlight “fresh-but-faithful” adaptations of the many quests and characters from RuneScape’s two-decade history; the board game will feature a one to five player campaign in the world of Gielinor, where ComicBook states “players will craft and upgrade equipment, upskill their characters, and take on a variety of different sidequests,” while the TTRPG will have a hardcover rule book with instructions for character-building and guides. Ahead of the 2022 Game Developers Conference, organizers ran their usual industry survey gathering a glimpse into the present and future of the gaming world. Informed by the ongoing interest in cryptocurrency and NFTs, this year’s State Of The Game Industry 2022 survey featured a section dedicated to the tradable digital asset built on blockchain technology and accompanying non-fungible tokens.
