Billie Eilish and her father, the actor Patrick O’Connell, have announced “me & dad radio”. The new show will premiere on Apple Music this Friday, May 8th, at 3 pm EDT. This will be Eilish’s second program on Apple Music, after her 2018 show “groupies have feelings too”. That preceded her Grammy-winning breakout LP, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, and now she has the clout to demand her dad be a part of the proceedings. O’Connell has a four-decade acting career, with bit parts in NYPD Blue, The West Wing, Supergirl and Baskets. As it turns out, he also has pretty good taste in tunes. “My dad and I have been putting each other on to music since I can remember, and we want to share it with you,” Eilish told Zane Lowe. She added, “My dad and I have had this relationshi...

Following a sharing of their 2006 Hyde Park show from London, Foo Fighters are upping the ante in terms of re-airing their legendary shows. Today (May 7) comes Lollapalooza 2011 in Chicago’s Grant Park. As those were there will tell you, the set was fighting through torrential rain. “I don’t give a fuck if it’s raining tonight!” Dave Grohl said during the set. Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell appeared on stage during set closer “Everlong,” and the band also dedicated their song “Cold Day in the Sun” to Farrell. Grohl performed the band’s staple “Times Like These” in a split format: half as a solo acoustic take, half with the full group. The stream will benefit Crew Nation, Live Nation’s fund to help support live crews around the world who are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It star...
Source: Freddy O / Radio One Digital Atlanta rappers are stepping up in a big way during this pandemic despite Georgia being the first state to partially re-open. T.I. and Killer Mike teamed up with non-profit PAWkids to serve 500 hot meals and needed household supplies to their most vulnerable neighbors affected by the city’s COVID-19 shutdown. Setting up in the parking lot of Bankhead Seafood, the ATL rap icons stood mask and gloved up with PAWkids volunteers to hand out brown bags and household items to residents of Atlanta’s Grove Park community that raised Killer Mike. “In any crisis, Black people confront dual challenges. We deal with the challenge of racism, and we deal with the crisis itself. COVID-19 is no exception. What we saw today was an overwhelming sense of need, but also a ...

(Photo by Paras Griffin/Getty Images) Trina doesn’t play when it comes to her career and after Khia suggested that the two should go head to head in a #Verzuz Battle, Trina took time to show the “My Neck, My Back” rapper who the baddest b*tch is. On Wednesday (May 6) Trina revealed that she has no interest in battling Khia on the Trick & Trina Morning Show on 99 Jamz, dismissing Khia as not in her league after Khia said she would dominate the 14-time gold-selling rapper in an Instagram Live battle. “I’m a queen; this is called royalty over here,” she stated. “I’m not stepping off my throne to address no bum, no chicks that are beneath me, and nobody that hasn’t worked as hard a...
Source: Greyland / Greyland The unlikely pairing of production grandmaster Madlib and Freddie Gibbs has culminated into a potent and creative collaboration that virtually has no ceiling. The producer and rapper today (May 7) released an exclusive mini-project with El Michels Affair titled The Diamond Mine Sessions exclusively via Amazon Music. The Amazon Original proact pairs the funk and soul stylings of the El Michels Affair, who reimagine the dusty loops and atmospheric bops originally created on Madlib’s trusty iPad. Freddie Kane, in top form, croons and raps his way through three songs from him and the Beat Konducta’s acclaimed 2019 album, Bandana. Recorded in Queens, N.Y. at the Diamond Mind Studios, ‘Lib and Gibbs take the tracks “Freestyle Sh*t,” “Gat Damn,” and “Palmolive” and giv...
As concert venues across the United States continue to be brought to a grinding halt by new regulations attempting to limit the spread of COVID-19, owners and managers are being forced to examine the longterm implications of the impact of pandemic. Some states, like California, are projecting that live music venues could be forced to suspend activities as far out as summer 2021, which spells out a harsh truth for some of those venues. One such establishment facing that truth is legendary Los Angeles club The Troubadour. Established in 1957, The Troubadour is a venue famous for hosting Elton John‘s debut U.S. performance in 1970, hosting an iconic Miles Davis live album recording, and a slew of other illustrious accomplishments. Electronic music acts like Joywave,...
Korean-American vocalist and performer Yaeji has been making quite a splash lately with her uniuque blend of electronic, lo-fi, and hip-hop elements along with her calming vocals in both English and Korean. Her 2020 headlining tour was set to springboard her even further into the spotlight, but unfortunately, that tour is now postponed through the end of 2020. With venues across the nation implementing newly enforced restrictions regarding social distancing in order to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, artists have been unable to perform at any live events and have consequently been forced to do the same as Yaeji. The rising star’s fans are understandably upset, but with the entire country’s live music scene brought to a virtual halt, Yaeji diehards h...
With most festivals and artists taking to the power of the internet to livestream DJ sets for fans in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, other organizers have been a bit more creative. Take Germany’s super-club Index, for example, who recently came up with something rather innovative to satiate the cravings of those eager to hear music live once again. Calling upon the past to bring something new to the future, Index has been hosting “drive-in raves”—events similar to the drive-in movie theaters of auld—where attendees can park in a large lot and witness DJ performances from the safety of their own automobiles. This environment ensures that attendees comply with social distancing guidelines and allows the venue to continue its operations while bringing in revenue du...
Fresh off a festive Cinco de Mayo livestream event in collaboration with Corona, Diplo and Dillon Francis were just announced as the headlining DJs of a virtual prom hosted by Jack in the Box called “Prom in the Box.” Joining the stream as its MC and host is YouTube star Jesse Wellens. The livestream event will also treat seniors from two high schools in the Los Angeles area with a taco-themed Zoom party. With Diplo and Dillon Francis at the helm, “Prom in the Box” will also feature dance challenges and digital decor, like Zoom backdrops and filters, all lending to a one-of-a-kind virtual prom and a night that these seniors, whose actual proms were quashed by the impact of COVID-19, will never forget. “Prom in the Box” will kick off on Zoo...
Neil Young is back with another charming installment of his Fireside Session performance series. Much like the first, second, and third entries, the acoustic set was filmed by wife and actress Daryl Hannah at their Colorado home. Over the course of 37 minutes, Young knocks out live rarity after live rarity, giving special attention to tracks off his Silver & Gold album, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. The fourth Fireside Session starts with Young outdoors by a fire (naturally), where he plays Harvest Moon selection “One of These Days” as the sun beautifully sets behind him. The folk legend also spends some time strumming inside by his fireplace and cozied up to his piano, performing songs like 1970’s “After the Gold Rush” and Ragged Glory cut “Mother Earth”....
