Bob Dylan has been busy of late. The master songwriter and Hall of Famer dropped a new song in March, the 17-minute epic “Murder Most Foul,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, his first-ever leader on a Billboard chart. Then in April, he shared “I Contain Multitudes.” At midnight, Dylan released another new track “False Prophet” and announced a new album Rough And Rowdy Ways, due out next month. “False Prophet” is accompanied with a sinister piece of artwork that could be an old poster for a Hammer Horror film. We’re greeted by a skeleton in a sharp suit and top hat, carrying an old-school hypodermic in one hand, and a mystery present in another. His shadow is that of a man hanging from a noose. The song itself isn’t quite so grim. It’s a slow blue...

Kehlani was the top trending topic on Twitter in the hours after the album dropped on digital music platforms. Stream the new album in full below.
Lil Durk just dropped a big release, Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. The Chicago-bred, Atlanta-based rapper’s new mixtape dropped at midnight and features assists from Georgia locals Gunna and Lil Baby. The 27-year-old hip-hop artist chatted with Forbes ahead of its release, and spoke of how the lockdown is the right time to release music. “My next project was going to be with Metro Boomin. We can’t really move forward because everybody’s in the house or social distancing,” he explained. “I’ve already got the music. The title is based off everybody waiting on Metro—Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. I think it’s just the best time, because people are all ears. You see people on the Gram, you see people on Tik Tok. It’s the best time for streaming at this ...
Weezer have many accomplishments during their 28-year career, and yet they’ve never achieved the nerd rock dream: being written into an episode of The Simpsons. That changes this Sunday, May 10th, when the California outfit will appear in an episode called “The Hateful Eight Year-Olds”, where they’ll play some recent singles as well as teasing the new song “Blue Dream”. According to a press release, Weezer will voice a cover band called Sailor’s Delight, who supply the musical entertainment on Homer and Marge’s romantic cruise. They’ll play some favorites from The Black Album and Pacific Daydream, but the big news for devout Weezer fans (other than the whole Simpsons thing) is the reveal of the new song “Blue Dream”. It’s expected to be another metal-inspired cut, and will a...

The sun’s dwindling through the windows, the African lilacs are all watered, everything’s been cleaned two times over. The only thing left is silence and the echoes of history. Whatever was once inside has been left to the memories of those who lived it. In that sense, we all contain multitudes. Join Losers Randall Colburn, Michael Roffman, Dan Caffrey, and Jenn Adams as they take a call from the grave, busk on the streets of Boston, and abscond to a rustic cabin upstate. At long last, Hayley Williams has released her debut solo album, Petals for Armor. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. As fans can attest, the roll-out for this record has been quite unusual. In addition to sharing individual singles, the Paramore frontwoman chose to break up the album into three separate EPs. The first was surprise-released in February, while the second followed in late April. Today brings the complete full-length — all three parts — to listeners for the first time. In a press statement, Williams explained her reasoning behind this distribution process. “There are a lot of themes covered on the album as a whole and I thought it best to separate some of these themes so that there can be time for everyone to digest some of the songs before we move along to others,”...
Lil Tjay has returned with a new mixtape called State of Emergency. Stream it in full below via Apple Music or Spotify. Spanning seven tracks, the collection follows up on Lil Tjay’s impressive 2019 full-length debut, True 2 Myself. Here, the young Bronx native is joined by a handful of fellow rising New York hip-hop talents, including the late Pop Smoke, Jay Critch, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow, Jay Gwuapo, and J.I. The Prince of New York. According to a statement, Lil Tjay’s Pop Smoke collaboration, “Zoo York”, was one of the last tracks the fallen rapper recorded before his sudden passing in February. In an Instagram post promoting State of Emergency, Lil Tjay crowned himself the “King of New York” (while also taking a swipe at Tekashi 6ix9ine), “F*CK ALL THAT OTHER S...
Blake Mills is a virtuoso guitarist who can’t stand the typical trappings of the phrase “virtuoso guitarist.” Even though his playing has earned him praise from boomer rock icons like Eric Clapton and Jackson Browne, the 33-year-old’s style is understated and eclectic, always in service of the song, not the ego. In his 20s, he caught the ear of Los Angeles’ songwriter intelligentsia, playing with the likes of Jenny Lewis and Fiona Apple, becoming the guy keen artists turned to when they wanted to add a layer of striking, yet subtle, musicality to their work. He could have spent his career as a secret-weapon guitarist, but he pivoted to solo work and production; his debut, 2010’s twangy Break Mirrors, doubled as a calling card that showed off his humble, affecting voice and burgeoning skill...
Bob Dylan has done it again. The Nobel Prize-winning legend has announced the release of Rough and Rowdy Ways, his first album of original material since 2012’s Tempest. Up until last month, he’d only released a trio of Frank Sinatra covers albums in the interim. Ways will be Dylan’s 39th studio album. In addition, he shared the latest single, “False Prophet.” It’s six-minute blues-rock number that, for Dylan, hearkens back to his 2000s output like Love and Theft. The album follows April’s release of both the 17-minute marathon “Murder Most Foul” which recounted President Kennedy’s assassination along with plenty of surrounding 1960s arcana, and the less-serious “I Contain Multitudes,” which shouted out Indiana Jones and “those British bad boys” the Rolling Stones. Though it hasn’t be...
Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande may be stuck inside, but that hasn’t stopped them from recording new music together. Today, the global pop stars have revealed their new collaborative single “Stuck With U”. Though the two are known for their upbeat numbers, “Stuck With U” sways with ease, delicacy, and a retro sound reminiscent of the ’60s. The track’s tender nature is especially fitting, given that all proceeds from the streams and sales will benefit First Responders Children’s Foundation to fund grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, police officers, and firefighters serving at the front lines during the global pandemic. On Instagram, Grande gushed over the song, writing, “i can’t fully articulate ……… howwwww...
It’s Friday, which means there’s a new classic Pink Floyd concert streaming for free on YouTube. This week’s installment, however, doesn’t focus on the band itself, but rather founding member David Gilmour. Back in 2016, 45 years after Pink Floyd’s filmed their famed Live at Pompeii film, Gilmour returned to the Italian amphitheater for his own solo concert. Over the course of two nights, Gilmour treated fans to a career-spanning set that included both Pink Floyd classics and material from his own solo catalog. Of particular note was a rare performance of The Dark Side of the Moon cut “The Great Gig in the Sky” as well as “One of These Days”, which was performed by Pink Floyd during their first go-around in Pompeii. A concert film capturing Gilmour’s performance was rel...
Quarantine is about to get a lot more soulful thanks to Kehlani, whose new album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t is out today on Atlantic Records. Listen in below via Apple Music or Spotify. The follow-up to 2017’s SweetSexySavage features prominent collaborations with James Blake, Jhené Aiko, and Tory Lanez. Early on, Kehlani teased the sophomore record with singles “Toxic”, “F&MU”, and “Everybody Business”; all three came with music videos that were filmed while on lockdown. In a press release, the Oakland native described It Was Good Until It Wasn’t as a “tale of perspective.” To illustrate her point, she pointed to the album’s cover artwork, which depicts the artist curiously peering over a cinderblock wall in her yard. Editors’ Picks “The sun is shining, the sky is blue, bu...
