Axl Rose is the most enigmatic of rock stars. The Guns N’ Roses front man doesn’t release music nearly often enough, and he’s not prolific on social media. When he does unleash, oh boy, folks pay attention. The Hall of Famer let fly with a tweet Wednesday night, taking full aim at Steve Mnuchin, the polarizing Secretary of the Treasury. “It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an asshole,” Rose tweeted. It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an asshole. — Axl Rose (@axlrose) May 6, 2020 Mnuchin, who looks like a guy who’s great at counting money but not big on beefs, actually shot back. “What have you done for the country lately?,” reads his tweet, which he completed with an emoji...
When Chris Blackwell signed Hillard “Sweet Pea” Atkinson to Island Records, he wanted to do more than just make a solo album for the Was (Not Was) singer. “He wanted to make a comic book where Sweet Pea was the main character,” Don Was tells Billboard, “because he was a larger than life guy — which is how I still think of him. I don’t think of him as a regular human.” Atkinson’s large life came to an end May 5, when he suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 74 in Los Angeles, where he lived. While Was (Not Was) became Atkinson’s claim to fame, it was also the stepping stone into a career that included two solo albums — Don’t Walk Away in 1982 and 2017’s Get What You Deserve — and membership i...

With no let-up in sight on Australia’s strict social distancing rules and tough quarantine measures expected to hold firm for months, festival organizers are playing the long game and returning to a vintage formula: all-local lineups. It ain’t over ’til it’s over. That’s the motto Sylvester Stallone lives by and why we’ll never count out a sequel to any of his properties. That being said, we’re admittedly a little surprised to hear that there’s a sequel in development to Demolition Man. “I think it is coming,” the veteran actor stated in a recent Q&A on Instagram. “We’re working on it right now with Warner Brothers and it’s looking fantastic, so that should come out. That’s going to happen.” Logically speaking, it makes sense. He’s already put the proverbial final nail in the coffin for his two most beloved franchises, that being Rocky and Rambo, so it’s only logical that he’d attempt to revisit the 1993 sci-fi blockbuster. Directed by Marco Brambilla in his feature-film debut and co-written by Heathers screenwriter...
Regardless of what Missouri and Arkansas say, the prospect of live music in a confined venue setting seems implausible for the foreseeable future. Instead, musicians in countries like Denmark and Germany have gotten creative by staging “drive-in” concerts in which attendees watch from the safety of their vehicle. Now, electronic musician Marc Rebillet has announced the first drive-in concert tour in the US. Rebillet will embark on the seven-date drive-in tour beginning in June, with socially distant concerts scheduled in North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. In lieu of opening acts, each show will screen short films. Additionally, attendees will be able to purchase merchandise, food, and more. Check out the full itinerary below (specific venue information is still forthcoming). Rebi...
Bay Area rapper Watsky was looking forward to touring behind his latest album, Placement — that was, until the coronavirus derailed his plans. Now with nothing but time on his hands, the notable Def Poetry Jam alum has decided to spend his quarantine setting a world record for the longest freestyle. The MC born George Watsky is specifically aiming to rhyme for a mind-boggling 33 hours and 33 minutes straight. If he’s successful, he will break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Continuous Rap Performance, which is currently held by Pablo Alvarez’s nearly 26-hour triumph set in 2016. The 33-year-old Watsky kicked off his mission Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. PT and is hoping to make it to the finish line that’s set for Thursday, May 7th, 7:30 p.m. In true quarantine fashion, Watsk...
For the first installment of his “Reunited Apart” video series, Josh Gad brought together all our favorite characters from The Goonies. Eight other participants are scheduled to appear in the reunion livestream, but Gad made sure to keep their identities a mystery. “Oops.
