Jacknife Lee Starts a Riot With Beth Ditto and Earl St. Clair on “I’m Getting Tired”: Stream

Between lockdown, the pandemic death toll, and The White House’s endless foibles, it’s hard not to feel completely burnt out on reality. That’s the kind of energy producer Jacknife Lee is channeling on his latest single, “I’m Getting Tired”, featuring Beth Ditto and Earl St. Clair. With the help of his two collaborators, Lee turns all of his inner frustrations outward in the form of soulful chaos mixed with noise-rock and fiery jazz fusion and funk. The collision of genres may seem a little busy on paper, but Lee is a master of balancing everything out — after all, his production credits do include an array of artists, such as R.E.M., Taylor Swift, and The Killers, and Regina Spektor. And at the end of the day, it’s that clashing of feelings and sounds that ultimately provides the catharsi...

Ka Releases New Album Descendants of Cain: Stream

Brownsville, New York rapper Ka has released a new album called Descendants of Cain. It was initially only available for digital purchase via his website, but has now been released on digital streaming services. Listen below. Descendants of Cain follows his 2018 record Orpheus vs. The Sirens and it’s his seventh studio album overall. Technically, though, this is the rapper’s first full-length under the name Ka since he released Honor Killed the Samurai in 2016, notes Pitchfork. It will likely take multiple spins to catch on to everything Ka references on Descendants of Cain — an intentional move on his end. “Since I don’t depend on my music to eat, it’s given me the freedom to have fun and not expect anything from it,” he explains on his website. “I’m always surprised when p...

Soundgarden Countersue Vicky Cornell, Claim She Used Charity Show Proceeds for “Personal Purposes”

The surviving members of Soundgarden have countersued Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, alleging that she used funds from a 2019 benefit concert for her own “personal purposes.” They also contend that she has taken over the band’s social media accounts without permission, and have also formerly responded to her claims over rights to unreleased songs they say were intended for a new Soundgarden album. Back in December, Vicky sued the Soundgarden members, accusing them of falsely claiming ownership of seven unreleased songs and withholding royalties from her over the dispute. The band had insisted that the songs were meant for a new Soundgarden album, but Vicky claimed no formal agreement was made between Chris and his bandmates as to the intended destination of the tracks. In their coun...

Kevin Spacey Compares Losing Job in Pandemic to His Downfall Following Multiple Sexual Assault Allegations

Since the first allegation in 2017, Kevin Spacey has been accused by dozens of people of unwanted harassment, groping, assault, and pedophilia. He lost his job on House of Cards and his career as an A-list actor — but then, as he revoltingly points out in a recent video, haven’t so many of us lost employment in these troubled times?  If you have been fired or furloughed during the coronavirus pandemic, Kevin Spacey claims to feels your pain — for is that really so different than being outed as a serial sexual predator? (We thought this would go without saying but yes, actually, fuck yes those things are different!) For reasons unknown, the German start-up conference Bits & Pretzels invited Spacey to give a virtual speech at the beginning of April. Spacey’s homemade ...

Andy Serkis to Read The Hobbit Live Online in Single Sitting

There’s never been a better time to watch The Lord of the Rings movies than now. With quarantine affording many people ample time to dig into pop culture they’ve previously missed, watching the series back-to-back is a fun way to pass a day (or three). The most impressive way to absorb the iconic stories is by reading the originals, though, and thankfully someone has stepped up to incentivize that route: Gollum himself. Andy Serkis has announced he will read The Hobbit nonstop to raise money for charity tomorrow. Serkis isn’t exaggerating. According to The Guardian, he will give a continuous, live reading of J.R.R. Tolkien’s 1937 novel from start to finish, with no breaks, which should take around 12 hours to do. That’s a massive task to take on, but the actor is determined to do so i...

Trump Campaign Compares Itself to Death Star, Forgets Death Star Blows Up

Donald Trump, professional troll and occasional President of the United States, is running for reelection by comparing himself to fictional mass murderers. A few months ago he shared a video of himself as Thanos, snapping the Democratic half of the country into oblivion. Now, his 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale has begun referring to Trump’s campaign as the Death Star, but Darth Brad has apparently forgotten the part where the Death Star blows up. “For nearly three years we have been building a juggernaut campaign (Death Star)” Parsacle wrote on Twitter. “It is firing on all cylinders. Data, Digital, TV, Political, Surrogates, Coalitions, etc. In a few days we start pressing FIRE for the first time.” He included a GIF of the Death Star then firing, leaving out all the space fascism and...

First Responders Children’s Foundation funds grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, police officers and firefighters serving on the front lines during the global pandemic. “i can’t fully articulate ……… howwwww happy i am that we waited this long to do this (the duet th...

Bob Dylan Sets New Album ‘Rough And Rowdy Ways,’ Releases ‘False Prophet’: Stream It Now

Bob Dylan has been busy of late. The master songwriter and Hall of Famer dropped a new song in March, the 17-minute epic “Murder Most Foul,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, his first-ever leader on a Billboard chart. Then in April, he shared “I Contain Multitudes.” At midnight, Dylan released another new track “False Prophet” and announced a new album Rough And Rowdy Ways, due out next month. “False Prophet” is accompanied with a sinister piece of artwork that could be an old poster for a Hammer Horror film. We’re greeted by a skeleton in a sharp suit and top hat, carrying an old-school hypodermic in one hand, and a mystery present in another. His shadow is that of a man hanging from a noose. The song itself isn’t quite so grim. It’s a slow blue...

The 27-year-old hip-hop artist chatted with Forbes ahead of its release, and spoke of how the lockdown is the right time to release music. “My next project was going to be with Metro Boomin. We can’t really move forward because everybody’s in the house or social distancing,” he explained. “I’ve already got the music. The title is based off everybody waiting on Metro—Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. I think it’s just the best time, because people are all ears. You see people on the Gram, you see people on Tik Tok.
