Trent Reznor to Focus on New Nine Inch Nails Music During Quarantine

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancelation of thousands of tours, including ones that hadn’t even been publicly announced. For example, Nine Inch Nails had planned to return to the road this fall for a series of North American dates alongside Savages’ Jehnny Beth. Now, NIN’s Trent Reznor is selling merchandise for this scrapped outing and donating the proceeds to charity. “I suppose I can let you know we HAD a tour booked this fall that continued and expanded ‘Cold and Black and Infinite’. @jehnnybeth was coming along with us. We were excited. I’m bumming myself out right now… We had some merch for that tour in production that we’re putting in the store with all of NIN’s profits going to local food banks in the cities we were going to play.” All is not lost: Reznor is using his ...

Phoebe Bridgers Reveals New Single “I See You”: Stream

Phoebe Bridgers has broken off another single from her forthcoming Punisher album. It’s dubbed “I See You” and streaming below. The indie songwriter has also announced a series of upcoming virtual “tour dates”. Today’s track was originally named “ICU”, but tweaked recently in light of the ongoing health crisis. (Or as Bridgers succinctly put it in a statement, “*gestures at entire world*”.) Per the indie songwriter, “I See You” is about her breakup with her drummer. “We dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely codependent,” explained our former Artist of the Month. “We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else.” Editors&#...

Timothy Olyphant Rumored to Be Playing Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian Season 2

Last week, we learned that Timothy Olyphant had joined the cast of The Mandalorian Season 2. Now, Slash Film is reporting that Olyphant will be wearing Boba Fett’s armor, which, uh, doesn’t make a lot of sense, considering Temuera Morrison is playing Boba Fett. So what gives? The simple answer is that someone else had donned the bounty hunter’s protective garb before he wore it. And while that character’s identity hasn’t been confirmed, devoted Star Wars readers will already have someone in mind: Cobb Vanth, former slave, sheriff of the Tatooine city of Freetown, and one of the breakout minor players in Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy of novels. There are a few clues pointing in Cobb Vanth’s direction. To start, the Aftermath books take place after the R...

Charli XCX’s How I’m Feeling Now Offers Honest Expression for Uncertain Times: Review

The Lowdown: Throughout her musical career, Charli XCX, born Charlotte Aitchison, has occupied both sides of pop stardom — the radio mainstream and the small, sweaty clubs where experimental pop flourishes. Coming onto the scene in 2012 with “I Love It”, Icona Pop’s chart topper, which was written by and featured Aitchison, was quite the breakout, reaching car-commercial levels of unavoidability. Not long after that, Aitchison’s feature on “Fancy”, which she co-wrote with Iggy Azalea, was named Billboard’s song of the summer, and her song “Boom Clap”, featured in teen-favorite The Fault in Our Stars, rivaled “Fancy” for that title. Despite Aitchison’s ability to craft radio hits, her affinity for experimental hyperpop is what makes her a cult-pop icon who continually pushes the genre forwa...

Phoebe Bridgers Shares ‘I See You’

Phoebe Bridgers has shared “I See You,” the latest track to come from her new album Punisher. Previously, Bridgers shared the dreamy “Kyoto.” The song, originally titled “ICU,” Bridgers tweaked it to, in her words, “*gestures at entire world*.” “It’s about my breakup with my drummer. We dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely codependent. We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else,” Bridgers said of the song in a statement. Additionally, Bridgers has also announced plans for a “Phoebe Bridgers’ World, Tour.” It starts next Tuesday (May 26) with livestream performances taking place in her kitchen, then moves to her bathroom ...

MLB’s Texas Rangers to Host “Concert In Your Car” Series at Stadium Parking Lot

The newly finished Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, is set to begin hosting socially distanced concerts in the stadium parking lot. The “Concert In Your Car” series starts in June and will host Eli Young Band, Josh Abbott Band & Kevin Fowler, Whiskey Myers, and Pat Green.  The framework will allow fans to watch the concerts from the comfort of their vehicles. A stage in the parking lot, video projections, and an FM audio transmission of the music will all be in place to connect attendees with the show. The strategy presents a potential blueprint for concert organizers looking to successfully navigate the challenges associated with the current COVID-19 environment. The Arlington-based stadium was originally scheduled to open on March 23rd, 2020 for spri...

Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor Working on New Music After Canceling Tour Plans

Nine Inch Nails were supposed to hit the road this year, so says Trent Reznor. But, for obvious reasons, those shows aren’t happening. Reznor explained more (in all caps) on the band’s website. “I WAS JUST REMINDED TODAY MARKS THE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF WHEN WE MADE YOU SHOW UP IN PERSON FOR THE COLD AND BLACK AND INFINITE TOUR. STRANGE TO THINK ABOUT WITH THE WORLD THE WAY IT IS NOW.  I LOOK FORWARD TO THE DAY WE CAN ONCE AGAIN SAFELY BE IN THE SAME SPACE AND SHARE THE EXPERIENCE OF SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS AT EACH OTHER,” Reznor’s statement started. He went on to say that the tour would have taken place this fall with Jehnny Beth serving as the opener. However, all isn’t lost. Reznor shared that he’s working on some more film scores and new Nine Inch Nails material. More s...

Brandon Boyd Covers Beach House’s ‘Myth’

Classic good news, bad news day for Incubus fans. Bad news: Incubus and 311 aren’t going to hit the road this summer (because you know) they announced on Tuesday morning. However, in the good news column, Incubus did release a new EP last month and told us all about it. But even with that release and being in quarantine hasn’t slowed down singer Brandon Boyd from having some fun while at home. Boyd shared a cover of Beach House’s “Myth” along with a video that was directed by Sarah Hay. “‘Myth’ written by Beach House and covered by Brandon Boyd while in captivity 2020,” a caption for the clip read. This wasn’t the first time Boyd has tackled someone else’s song while in quarantine. A few weeks ago, the Incubus singer covered “Goodbye Moonmen” from Rick & Morty. Check out...
