As a result, the livestream offered a myriad of unreleased music over the course of the 3-day event, but the below track from NGHTMRE and Zeds Dead is a bona fide standout. The two trap and dubstep heavyweights opted to go the future bass route in what seems like a follow-up to their fan favorite 2016 collaboration “Frontlines (feat. GG Magree),̶...

Lzzy Hale has painted a bleak present and future for music acts in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, remarking that “most of the bands you know and love won’t make it out of this.” The Halestorm singer-guitarist made the comments on Instagram while also warning her supporters that states are reopening prematurely. Even though Halestorm have a strong following and several rock hits to their name, the financial and emotional hit of the pandemic is taking its toll on the band and its crew — as it is for most touring artists. In her Instagram note, Hale pointed out the “audacity of some people to assume that just because I’m someone of note, that I am not suffering because of all this.” As a majority of the United States starts to reopen in varying phases, Lzzy proclaims, “Without a vaccine,...
Joaquin Phoenix may have enjoyed a successful awards season behind Joker, but an even bigger bundle of joy is on the way this summer: he and Rooney Mara are reportedly expecting their first child together. The news comes via Page Six, whose source says Mara may be “as far as six months along in her pregnancy”; that would place a due date sometime in August. The very private celebrity couple have been quarantining together at their home in Los Angeles the last few months. Phoenix, 45, and Mara, 35, first met while on the set of the 2013 Spike Jonze hit Her. However, they didn’t make their public debut until the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The pair reunited on screen for Mary Magdalene the following year, and then later celebrated their engagement in July 2019. Editors’ Picks ...
Fantastic Negrito has announced his new album Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? The follow-up to the Grammy-winning Please Don’t Be Dead arrives August 14th, and to promote it, the blues rocker ripped through a fiery performance of the lead single “Chocolate Samurai” on Colbert. Xavier Dphrepaulezz began his Late Show set alone, holding two kinds of tape — measuring and duct — and marking out six feet of distance for his band. For the concert, he wore a fuzzy bucket hat and what looked like a military uniform made out of the Bible’s coat of many colors. Fantastic Negrito has a powerful voice with an inimitable grind; he approaches the notes with the unstoppable force of a locomotive barreling down the tracks. Throughout “Chocolate Samurai” he strutted and danced, refus...

We’re giving away one (1) copy of Vinyl Me, Please’s 35th anniversary Whitney Houston box set. Coming in conjunction with Legacy Recordings,...
Popular fuji singer, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma, has disclosed that the current crop of young Yoruba artistes in the country prefer the hip-hop genre over fuji, which he said has been relegated to the background. He stated this in an Instagram live chat with Yoruba actor and husband to Toyin Abraham, Kolawole Ajeyemi. Pasuma said: “It is sad that budding fuji artistes now prefer to sing hip-hop. After Shanko Rasheed and his set, we are yet to find other young artistes doing fuji music. Even Destiny Boy that was meant to do fuji has decided to focus on hip-hop.” The “Oganla 1” also disclosed that there are plans to save and help the fuji music industry to grow better. He said: “After this COVID-19 pandemic, we have plans to organise a competition for talented fuji artistes. We keep seeing the ...
Chris Cornell died three years ago today in Detroit while Soundgarden was on tour. In his memory, Soundgarden (and Pearl Jam) drummer Matt Cameron teamed up with former Soundgarden opener Taylor Momsen (also from Gossip Girl) of the Pretty Reckless to take on the band’s “Halfway There.” The Pretty Reckless were also the opener for the band on that night in Detroit. Momsen also appeared with the three surviving members of the band at last year’s I Am the Highway show that is now the source of a countersuit between them and Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky. The song hails from the band’s 2012 comeback album King Animal. That was the band’s first album of originals since 1996’s Down on the Upside. For this version, shot in quarantine, of course, Cameron was on guitar...
Celebrate their 25th anniversary this year, the Foo Fighters had so much planned to celebrate the achievement. But then the novel coronavirus hit. Now, the tour has been postponed, and the band is doing what they can to keep in touch with their fans like sharing vintage live footage. Dave Grohl recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about how the global pandemic changed his role from touring musician to stay-at-home-dad. “Right now I’m in such a daddy-domestic headspace that even just calling to do an interview is strange, because what is there to talk about really?” he told Entertainment Weekly. “But we do have this arsenal of material ready to fuckin’ dam-burst all over the world, and it’s just a matter of figuring out when the world is ready because I think that’s a little more import...
