A couple of weeks after teasing activity, the Smashing Pumpkins are officially back. Billy Corgan and company released a pair of new songs, “Cyr” and “The Colour of Love,” the first songs from an upcoming album they’re working on that will be out on Sumerian Records. The lineup — which is essentially the founding one sans D’Arcy Wretzky — also includes guitarist Jeff Schneider. “‘Cyr’ is dystopic folly,” Corgan said in a statement. “One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.” The Pumpkins last released new music in 2018, with the Rick Rubin-helmed SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. You can read our review of the...

Catfish’s newest episode challenged a 24-year-old gay man to examine whether his strong emotions for an Internet crush were, indeed, love, or whether they were simply admiration for someone who seemed more comfortable being gay. On tonight’s installment, Nev and Kamie reached out to Dustin, a Floridian whose teenage coming out was met with judgment and contempt from family. Dustin said over Zoom that his stepfather was so dismayed to learn he’s gay, the man forced Dustin into dangerous conversion therapy. Dustin’s consequent journey into adulthood was not easy, but he said one thing that gave his 16-year-old self hope was meeting a fellow teenager named Keegan on Facebook. Keegan, a Vermont native who seemed effortlessly out and proud, began to serve as a “safe harbor” for Dust...

Thrusting a syringe of adrenaline into the bicep of the original, he mutates it into a rip-roaring dubstep bomb that yearns for the rails of pre-pandemic yesteryear. The intricacies o...
