Grimes Explains the Bizarre Meaning Behind the Name of Her New Baby Boy, X Æ A-12

Remember that infamous “Math Lady” meme? The one with the confused woman trying to figure out the equations swirling around her head? After Grimes‘ attempt at an explanation behind her new baby boy’s name, we are all that woman. Following the birth of X Æ A-12, which Elon Musk commemorated with a picture of the newborn edited with a face tattoo filter, Grimes took to Twitter to offer up a stupefying explanation that does little to demystify the bizarre name. The Twittersphere, of course, has been buzzing with ludicrous theories and explanations, lionizing Grimes as both profound and ridiculous. The jury is still out on the pronunciation of the name, but one woman did her best to offer some clarity.

The 25 Best Hayley Williams Songs

I wish it was a bigger compliment to call Hayley Williams the best thing to happen to arena-rock in the last decade and a half. But even if you like Kings of Leon (I do), or listen to entire Killers albums (they have their moments, but really, see them live), there’s just not too much competition. The 1975 get more critical than commercial love, and the interesting paths they’re taking aren’t usually rock ones. Even more than them, Billie Eilish opens up a lot of questions about what rock actually is. And I’ll leave Imagine Dragons and Twenty One Pilots for other people to defend. I don’t think it’s a contest. Immensely popular, likable, empathetic, and astoundingly musically adaptable, Paramore’s frontwoman started out as the class of the emo kids and ended up stealing the show on a Loret...

Jessica Simpson Calls ‘Body Shaming’ Met Gala Oral History ‘Nauseating’

Jessica Simpson is not having it. On Tuesday (May 5), the star issued a stern clapback after a former Vogue staffer recounted an experience from the 2007 Met Gala for the magazine’s new oral history of the event. The drama started when Sally Singer, Vogue‘s former creative digital director, told a story about Simpson’s appearance at the 2007 Met Gala, which was themed “Poiret: King of Fashion,” with then-boyfriend John Mayer. “She was wearing Michael Kors and her breasts maybe fell out of her dress on the red carpet,” Singer recalled to the magazine. “And then at dinner it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson’s breasts are across from me at the dinner table and they are on a platter and I’m looking at them. And John Mayer was putting his ...

The Adults In The Room: A Conversation About The Future Of The Kids’ Music Business

Karen Lieberman, vp sales and digital for Disney Music Group, and Jonathan Linden, partner in Round Room Live, the company behind Baby Shark Live! and Peppa Pig Live!, discuss their strategies for success in the children’s music sector and how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their respective businesses For those who think that gauging the musical tastes of children today is simply a matter of consulting the world’s growing trove of data, consider this: Most kids don’t subscribe to streaming services or purchase tickets to live shows — they don’t even have their own social media accounts. “If you look at the demographics, they don’t represent children, they represent parents,” says Karen Lieberman, vp sales and digital for Disney Music Group, which runs point on physical and digital sale...

That already felt like a life goal. And we kept in touch and then we started working together on that song. And now it’s out and it’s just ...
