Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” which was the artist’s first number-one hit, has now reached one billion views on YouTube. Behind “I Like It,” which features Bad Bunny and J Balvin, “Bodak Yellow” becomes Cardi B’s second song to reach this milestone.
The song was originally released in 2017, which made the Bronx-native the first woman rapper to ever earn a certified diamond single. The song’s diamond certification occurred in March of this year. Although her 2018 song “I Like It” crossed the one billion mark as well, the distinction is “Bodak Yellow” is Cardi B’s first solo music video to reach this benchmark, which is fitting given how widely successful her breakout single was. The single rested at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks and subsequently became the second solo hip-hop number-one single by a woman artist.
