Infinity Ward and Activision on Thursday announced that Call of Duty will return to Modern Warfare this year, unveiling the official logo and title for the game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
“The new era of Call of Duty is coming,” the official Call of Duty account wrote on Twitter, alongside a brief teaser video for the game. The visual does not reveal too much about the forthcoming title, though it does show the iconography for Task Force 141, which was the international spec ops unit that played a primary role in the 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The upcoming Call of Duty game will arrive as a sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which served as a reboot to the developer’s 2007 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the first-ever Modern Warfare title.
Aside from the logo and teaser, developers have not disclosed additional information on the forthcoming Modern Warfare title. This year’s Call of Duty entry is expected to release on consoles and PC sometime later this year.
