The three-part event, which heralds the Africa Rising Music Conference summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, examines the continent’s music ecosystem while exploring its potential for future opportunities in the world market, including collaborations.

Moderated by Byta founder and CEO Marc Brown, the forthcoming event, slated for 16 May, will feature Namibian DJ Dreas and Women in Music South Africa founder Manaileng Maphike. The first talk in the series, which took place on 30 March, featured South African artists Naimah and Fundi Mbambani. 

Byta is behind a number of high quality content and events for tomorrow’s artists and industry leaders of all backgrounds and at every level of the music ecosystem. Notable among them is #HowWeListen, the platform’s nonprofit arm, which forms part of its commitment to education regarding the music ecosystem. #HowWeListen traditionally takes the form of a podcast, comprising a workshop and an in-depth interview session with industry experts

The Africa Music Rising Conference is a female-led, executive-focused conference , a game-changer for African music and its connection to the worldwide market.

It will be held at the Hallmark House Hotel in Johannesburg on 23 and 24 May, and will feature a mix of local and international delegates, centring around the urban and electronic music industries and the Afro-Euro connection both these chart-topping genres provide.
