Bugatti Unveils The Interior of Its Track-Only Hypercar: The Bolide

Bugatti has unveiled the cockpit design for its track-only hypercar, the Bolide, designed to offer a one-of-a-kind sensory experience for drivers. The Bolide’s interior, inspired by high-level motorsports and luxurious craftsmanship, is built around a new, lightweight, robust monocoque (single frame) structure distinct from Bugatti’s Chiron.

This advanced monocoque enables a unique seating position, leaning the driver towards the back with raised heels, akin to extreme racecars. The design ensures no shared parts with the Chiron, featuring optimized racing seats, a high-tech yoke steering wheel and custom arrangements for safety, comfort and performance.

The cockpit’s design aligns with the Bolide’s exterior, particularly its X-shaped taillights and central exhaust. This “X-theme” is also central to the yoke’s design, aimed at inspiring confidence by merging driver and car into a single entity. Bugatti shared that the steering wheel, at the discretion of the user, can be removed and potentially used as a decorative element in spaces like boardrooms or homes.

Development of the “X-theme” steering wheel employed state-of-the-art 3D shaping and polygonal modeling, techniques from gaming and visual effects industries. This process allowed for precise modeling of complex structures and surfaces. Feedback from Bugatti’s test drivers led to a compact, ergonomic steering wheel with eight strategically placed buttons for functionality under high-speed conditions.

For data delivery, the Bolide offers two display interfaces — the first shows complex data for professional drivers, while the second provides an overview for customer familiarity. This dual approach caters to different user needs, whether it’s professional racing or personal enjoyment.

The “X-theme” continues throughout the cockpit, especially in the multi-pad design of the seats. These seats are directly layered onto the monocoque for a strong connection without compromising comfort, a notable first for Bugatti. Additionally, the seats come in four sizes, with customization options including leather, suede and Alcantara.
