BTS Inducted Into Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame With 23 Records

BTS have officially been crowned Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Famers with an impressive list of 23 records across both music and social media.

The boyband set 11 of their wide-spanning records in the past year alone, the Guinness World Records announced on Thursday. Among their multitude of accolades, BTS are now the most-streamed act on Spotify, the most followed music group on Instagram and hold the best-selling album in South Korea.

Their chart-topping May 2021 track, “Butter,” single-handedly raked in five records, including most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube (3.9 million) and most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours (11.04 million). Many of the records broken with “Butter” previously belonged to BTS’ “Dynamite,” which still holds the record for most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs sales chart, with 18 weeks.

Some of the septet’s other records include most Twitter engagement for a music group, most tickets sold for a live-streamed concert (756,000) and most Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards won by a music group (5).

“Despite their young age, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook have left a mark in the present cultural landscape, breaking free from the limitations of their home market and of a language, South Korean, that remains widely unknown to the international public,” Guinness World Records wrote in its announcement. “In fact, through their art, the seven artists are raising awareness around Korean culture and language (which earned them the ambitious 5th class of the Order of Cultural Merit, the Flower Crown).”

In addition to their records, BTS will also receive a two-page spread in the upcoming printed Guinness World Records 2022 book.
