Bryan Health shares tips for keeping healthy eating resolutions

LINCOLN, Neb, (KLKN) – Many resolutions for the new year are centered around a healthier lifestyle and staying on track nutritionally.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages people to set realistic goals, as it is easier to reach goals if you make changes step by step.

Darci McMurray, a clinical nutrition services manager at Bryan Health, said it is important to fuel your body with food that will keep you energized.

“We want our plates to be full,” she said. “We really encourage half of our plates to be fresh fruits and vegetables, only a quarter of that plate needs to be lean protein, and that other quarter of that plate needs to be carbs.”

Without the proper nutrients, your function will be impaired throughout the day.

So if you have a busy schedule, McMurray encourages packing your lunch the night before to avoid skipping meals with a busy schedule.
