Brooklyn Museum to Host First Posthumous Exhibition on Virgil Abloh

The Brooklyn Museum announced that it will hold the first posthumous exhibition on the prolific designer and creative polymath, Virgil Abloh. Curated by Antwaun Sargent and Michael Darling, the show continues off the explorative matter presented in Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition, which has toured around the U.S., along with a recent stop in Qatar.

Initially created as a mid-career survey, the exhibition showcased Abloh’s brilliance at the intersection of art and design, to music, fashion and architecture. The Brooklyn Museum has not revealed details on the upcoming show, but going off the last several, which featured an immersive space designed by Rem Koolhaas’s renowned architecture firm OMA*AMO — we can expect an enthralling experience.

Abloh’s unforeseen death in November has left a gaping hole in the minds and hearts of millions, but his legacy will undoubtedly live on in anyone who has subscribed to his work. “Figures of Speech” will be on view at the Brooklyn Museum from July 1, 2022 to January 29, 2023.

Elsewhere in art, David Zwirner presents “Toni Morrison’s Black Book.”
