Brass Against Singer Sophie Urista Apologizes for Urinating on Fan

To (likely) conclude one of the stranger stories of the year, Brass Against singer Sophie Urista has apologized for peeing on a fan. The incident took place at the Welcome to Rockville festival. Though it’s not as famous as another alleged pee tape, the incident lit the internet on fire.

“Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona,” the Brass Against singer said in a tweet. “Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona. I have always pushed the limits in music and on stage. That night, I pushed the limits too far. I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything and I know that some were hurt or offended by what I did. I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn’t mean to hurt them.

“I am not a shock artist. I always want to put the music first. I’m grateful for all of your continued love and support.”

In case you (somehow) don’t remember Urista called a fan on stage before telling him to lay down before doing the deed. Following that, Brass Against distanced themselves from Urista, saying she got carried away.

According to the Daytona Beach Journal, someone called the police about the incident that took place on Thursday night. Urista won’t be charged, however, NASCAR wasn’t as forgiving. In a statement issued on Monday, NASCAR (which owns the speedway) said the band won’t be allowed to perform at any of their venues.

“Daytona International Speedway doesn’t condone the inappropriate actions that took place during Thursday’s Welcome to Rockville event,” said the statement emailed by NASCAR spokesman Russell Branham. “We are working with promoter Danny Wimmer Presents to address the issue. The band will not be included in future programming at NASCAR venues.”

Brass Against were previously best known for their covers of songs by Tool, Rage Against the Machine and more. It’s likely that won’t be the case for a long time.
