Brandy plays Belinda, a mother-to-be in the trailer for A24’s psychological horror, The Front Room. While anticipating her first child, Belinda bemoans her workload and the not-so-ready state of the home she shares with her husband Norman (Andrew Burnap).
A surprise call from Norman’s estranged and widowed mother Solange (Kathryn Hunter) reveals that she’ll be leaving everything to the couple in her will – on the condition that she can move into their house. Far from your typical mother-in-law, Solange believes she’s possessed by the Holy Spirit, with Norman warning Belinda that she’ll treat them as her “disciples.”
“She wants to replace me. She’s taking over the house,” Belinda says in one scene as Solange’s obsession with her baby continues to grow.
The Front Room is based on Susan Hill’s 2016 novel of the same name and is directed by brothers Max and Sam Eggers in their feature film debut. Neal Huff rounds out the cast, portraying Pastor Lewis.
