Boygenius Is Going on Hiatus

boygenius, the supergroup comprised of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, officially announced that they are going on an indefinite hiatus.

A rep for the trio told Billboard that they “will be stepping back,” but did not share any additional details. The news was first confirmed by the band during their acoustic Los Angeles show, where they reportedly stated that they will be “going away for the foreseeable future.” Dacus added in a video, “This is our last show, and we’re feeling it.”

The announcement arrives just ahead of the 2024 GRAMMY Awards, where the trio is currently in the running for Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for The Record, Record of the Year, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for “Not Strong Enough” and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Cool About It”.

boygenius made their return with their debut studio album The Record  and The Rest EP in 2023, after dropping their self-titled EP in 2018 and going on hiatus.
