boygenius surprised fans last night when the cult-followed Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker supergroup announced a new EP dropping next month. Entitled the rest, the follow-up to their well-received debut studio album the record, the EP will consist of four new songs, one of which the band debuted at last night’s show in Boston.
While 75% of the tracklist still remains redacted (see below), the supergroup hard-launched the rest‘s first track last night. Entitled “Black Hole” the group delivered the album’s dreamy opener at their first show of the tour last night, at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The boys continue the tour with stops in Connecticut, Philadelphia and New York City before wrapping up on Halloween night for their Hollywood Bowl debut.
The EP’s tracklist currently looks as follows, though it’s not unlike the band to tease the other three tracks at some point throughout the tour.
Tracklist
Side A
1. Black Hole
2. ****** ** *******
Side B
3. *******
4. *****
You can pre-save the rest now, which is expected to land on streaming on October 13 – which happens to be, in true boygenius fashion, Friday the 13th. The EP will also see a release on limited edition yellow 10” vinyl as well as CDs.
Elsewhere in music news, Odd Future dropped off “NEW FUTURE ERA”, the collective’s first new track in over a decade.
