Diving into their major label debut, Dusk, they speak on how their sound and songwriting have evolved since their first self-released album, The Tanglewood Sessions, a decade ago. Barton Davies, William Reames, Willard Logan, Sam McCullough, and Ford Garrard discuss the new LP’s relationship-based tale and how the record is part one of a bigger release. They also reveal they mixed the album with car speakers and driving in mind and share their favorite artists to listen to on late night drives (including The Killers, Eagles, and more).
“It’s a lot of finding love, discovering love, falling in love,” they said about telling a story with their music. “We wanted to take the listener on a journey through the night with us. We imagine people just hanging out with their friends, partying, having a little too much to drink.”
The Nashville-based band also talks about why whiskey plays a big part in their music, the story behind the single “Something ‘Bout a Sunset,” and how Mike Dirnt of Green Day inspired one member to pick up a Fender bass.
