Bowers & Wilkins Meets McLaren Automotive for Flagship Px8 Headphones

British premium audio label Bowers & Wilkins has partnered with supercar maker McLaren Automotive to create an all-new flagship headphone, the Px8 McLaren Edition.

Built on the reference-standard sound quality of the new Px8 and celebrating the high-performance hybrid McLaren Artura supercar, the specially-designed, wireless headphones feature a Galvanic grey finish and Papaya orange accents, the latter of which references the color that appeared on founder Bruce McLaren’s early sportscars. With bespoke 40mm Carbon Cone drive units, the McLaren Edition Px8 delivers stellar performance with carefully angled components that ensure a consistent distance relative to the listener’s ears.

The Px8 enlists Qualcomm’s aptXTM Adaptive wireless technology, which provides the highest sound quality from compatible devices, as well as USB-C and 3.5mm analogue cable connections. For both wireless and wired set-ups, the headphones fuse the brand’s high-performance drive unit with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to create 24-bit high-resolution sound quality.

Additionally, the Px8 operates with a proprietary Bowers & Wilkins-optimized noise cancellation technology, as well as six microphones that work in tandem to measure output, react to ambient noise and provide outstanding voice clarity with enhanced noise suppression.

The new Px8 McLaren Edition will be available from the Bowers & Wilkins website and select retailers beginning December 7 for $799 USD. Take a look at the headphones in the gallery above.

Elsewhere, Apple Music invites listeners to sing along to their favorite songs with a new in-app feature.
