When Bon Iver changed his profile photo on Instagram and X, fans immediately suspected something was up. They were right, as earlier this morning, the enigmatic artist took to his socials to unveil a new preview video for imminent new music.
The clip is rather short and reveals no real details other than the fact that: new music is on the way. The black-and-white clip focuses on Justin Vernon in a cowboy hat for a few seconds, followed by a title card with a pre-save link and “Jagjaguwar” – a record label.
When clicking on the pre-save link, still, no details on the release populate, leaving fans speculating whether it’s a single or an album. Vernon has also revamped the entire Bon Iver website, leading fans to believe it’s a longer-form project rather than just a one-off song.
Whatever form it may take, the new release will mark the first Bon Iver release since 2022, when he released the 10-year-anniversary edition of Bon Iver. It also signals the first new Bon Iver music since “AUATC” and “PDLIF” in 2020.
As one commenter put it: “It’s autumn he’s defrosting.”
