Bob Marley maintains a presence on several Billboard charts almost constantly, as Americans love his work. The singer-songwriter is known to dominate one tally in particular, and as he rules that ranking once again, two albums full of the music he made famous debut, giving the superstar even more control over the tally.
On this week’s edition of the Reggae Albums chart, Marley’s sound and style are everywhere. Three albums of Marley’s material appear on Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in the U.S. that can be classified as reggae.
As is almost always the case, Marley sits at No. 1 on the Reggae Albums chart. The celebrated musician’s greatest hits compilation, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers, is a non-mover in first place.
That set has now ruled the Reggae Albums chart for 214 weeks. That’s an incredible run, but it’s made even more impressive considering how often it falls from the No. 1 spot. Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers has spent 215 frames on the tally, with all but one of those spent on top.
As Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers dominates once more, Marley collects another placement on the Reggae Albums chart. Bob Marley: One Love debuts at No. 9 on the ranking. The set is the soundtrack to the newly-released biopic of the same name that tells the story of the Jamaican artist’s rise to prominence.
Just one rung below that album comes another that features Marley’s music. Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film) opens at No. 10, in last place, on this week’s Reggae Albums chart. That project is not credited to Marley but instead to various artists, though it’s all about his work.
Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film) features a number of well-known artists covering some of Marley’s biggest hits. The album was released in conjunction with the movie, which has now produced a pair of popular efforts. The compilation includes contributions from the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Daniel Caesar, and Wizkid, among others.
