BMW Unleashes Its Latest "Competition Sport" Vehicle: The M4 CS

BMW has unveiled its latest “Competition Sport” vehicle, the M4 CS, a special edition model that bridges the gap between its M4 Competition Coupé and the M4 CSL, offering a thrilling blend of racetrack prowess and everyday usability.

The M4 CS comes equipped with a tuned 3L twin-turbo inline six boasting 550 hp and capable of 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. While derived from the M3/M4 range, the engine is extensively tuned for track performance, made apparent by the success of its race-bred counterparts that have dominated competitions like the DTM and the 24-hour races at Spa-Francorchamps and Dubai.

Performance is further enhanced by the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and BMW’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Notably, the car’s prowess was put to the test at the Nürburgring, where it clocked an impressive lap time of 7 minutes and 21.989 seconds, showcasing its agility and dynamic handling.

The M4 CS is also a technical showcase with extensive use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) to reduce weight, including in key areas like the roof, hood and aerodynamic components. This not only enhances the car’s performance but also its visual appeal, accentuating its racing DNA.

Internally, the M4 CS doesn’t skimp on luxury or technology. It features M Carbon bucket seats, a BMW Curved Display with M-specific readouts and the latest iteration of the BMW iDrive system. It also comes equipped with the M Drive Professional package, which includes a Drift Analyser, Laptimer and M Traction Control, making it both a track-ready performer and a capable daily driver.

Set to begin production at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing this July, with orders opening by the end of May, the BMW M4 CS is a compelling synthesis of high-performance engineering and everyday practicality.
