BMW Refreshes Its 3 Series for 2023 With New Grille Design

Shortly after unveiling both its 7 Series and X7 SUV for 2023, BMW is now showing off its redesigned 3 Series for the coming year as well. Giving its flagship sedan a refreshing makeover, the new 3 Series carries a completely reimagined front end, from the automaker’s iconic split grille to the sportier and more aggressive bumper below. The angular aesthetic extends to the rear bumper as well, though the rest of the rear end remains largely unchanged. With new colors and wheel designs to choose from, all standard models will be paired with black exterior accents and trims, although the M340i will also come with retro BMW Motorsport roundels on the front, rear and wheels in celebration of the M division’s 50th-anniversary.

With an almost complete makeover on the outside, its only natural that BMW gave the interior some love as well. The cabin now carries new instruments and infotainment displays inspired by the iX, with the former display panel measuring 12.3 inches while the latter comes in at a comfortable 14.9 inches. Both units are housed in a long, curved panel reaching across the dashboard. Lower down, you’ll also find a revamped shifter and center air vents, with other features such as cloud-based navigation and three-zone automatic climate control rounding out the upgrades.

As for its powertrain, BMW has decided to retain most of the options from its predecessor, meaning there’ll be three versions to choose from: a turbocharged four-cylinder model, a turbocharged straight-six model, and a plug-in hybrid carrying a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, all three variants will use the same eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive comes standard, although you can also opt for all-wheel drive.

Unfortunately, pricing for the 2023 BMW 3 Series has yet to be announced, but you can expect more updates to come as we approach its planned release date in July.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Land Rover has offered a preview of its new three-row Defender 130.
