BMW has officially launched the fourth generation of its 1 Series, promising a dynamic driving experience with enhanced design and technology. The new model, set to debut in October 2024, features significant upgrades in performance, sustainability and digital innovation.
The 2024 BMW 1 Series showcases a bold design with hallmark BMW proportions. The front end, now lower and flatter, highlights its sporty character with a forward-leaning grille and striking LED headlights.
BMW emphasizes sustainability with the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology across its engine range. These engines are designed for both efficiency and performance, supporting BMW’s goal of optimizing sustainability throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. The production process also focuses on resource conservation and material recycling.
Inside, the new 1 Series features a redesigned, leather-free interior with options for recycled and vegan materials. The cabin is equipped with the BMW iDrive system based on BMW Operating System 9, offering an intuitive and highly personalized digital experience. A fully digital cockpit with a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display reduces the need for physical buttons, enhancing the modern feel of the interior.
The new 1 Series also comes with an expanded range of automated driving and parking systems. Standard features include front collision warning, lane departure warning, and parking assistance, while optional upgrades offer advanced functions like Steering and Lane Control Assist and Parking Assistant Professional, allowing for smartphone-controlled parking.
At the top of the range, the BMW M135 xDrive boasts a notable 300-hp four-cylinder engine. This model features the Adaptive M Chassis, sport steering and intelligent all-wheel drive, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Production of the new BMW 1 Series will take place at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, with Germany and Japan being key markets.
