Amongst the latest news to come out of the K-pop world, BLACKPINK member Jennie has revealed that she is working on new solo music. In her recent cover interview for Harper’s Bazaar Korea, she teased that she is preparing to release a new project imminently.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, Jennie shared with the magazine, “I’m making a song that’s by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique thats is only Jennie’s,” hinting at focusing on herself in the upcoming project. This would ultimately mark her first official release outside of the BLACKPINK group since November 2018 when she debuted her single, “Solo.” The only other time she revealed solo material is the song “You & Me (Moonlight)”, which she performed during the group’s Born Pink tour last year. The song has yet to have an official release date as well.
Earlier this year, she collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp on a track titled “One Of The Girls” for the HBO series, The Idol. She also starred opposite the two in the show. Jennie’s new solo project new comes amidst reports that herself and other members of BLACKPINK are not planning to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment. So far, nothing about their contracts have been confirmed just yet. But may local media sources have reported that Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa are all planning on not renewing their contracts.
