Black Midi have released a three-track EP titled Cavalcovers, featuring their renditions of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man,” and Captain Beefheart’s “Moonlight on Vermont.” The EP arrives just as Black Midi kick off their headlining North American tour. Give it a listen below.
Cavalcovers is a play on words referencing the band’s 2021 album Cavalcade. Last year, Black Midi recorded five fan-voted covers for different territories and retailers that were available on limited flexi discs. Three of those covers comprise the tracklist for their new EP. For “21st Century Schizoid Man,” all three members of Black Midi contributed vocals for the first time. The group also enlisted Kaidi Akinnibi to lay down saxophone on the track.
