Los Angeles artists Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at the 2024 Olympics closing ceremony, as part of the handover of the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles.

The segment was introduced in true Hollywood fashion, with Tom Cruise getting the Olympic flag at the stadium in Paris, flying it to Los Angeles, and parachuting down to the Hollywood sign with it. From there, the broadcast cut to the artists performing on the picturesque Venice beach, beginning with Red Hot Chili Peppers, who played their 2002 song “Can’t Stop” and a 2022 cut, “Eddie.”

Up next was Eilish, who delivered a vibey rendition of her song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” from her recently-released album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. Then, Snoop closed out the segment in true West Coast style, performing “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “The Next Episode,” with help from Dr. Dre on the latter song. Speaking about the performances in a statement, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics’ creative director, Ben Winston, said they would “showcase the heartbeat of LA — which like the Olympics — is where people come from all over the world to pursue their dreams… featuring the city’s people, creativity, music, and of course sport, all wrapped up with a little Hollywood magic.”

Eilish’s appearance comes after the release of her third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, this past May. Up next, she’s set to hit the road for a sprawling tour in support of the album, which will stretch into July 2025 with dates across North America and Europe. Get tickets here.

As for Snoop, his performance was the climax of his heavy involvement in the 2024 games, which saw him carry the Olympic torch, swim with Michael Phelps, gift Simone Biles’ dad a Death Row chain, and more. He even ran a 200-meter race during the US Olympic Trials.

Earlier in the broadcast, another California native, H.E.R., sang the American national anthem live from Paris. Additionally, the French band Phoenix performed with special guests Ezra Koenig, Air, and more.
