Directed and edited by Eilish herself, the video is an all-too-exact portrayal of what someone is up to after a heartbreak—sitting on the bathroom floor, eating alone, and uncomfortably rolling around in bed. The video comes ahead of the Grammy-winning artist’s appearance on Saturday Night Live, where she will host and perform on the show’s second-to-last episode of the year on December 11. It will be her first time to host and second time performing on the famed New York City-based comedy series.
Happier Than Ever received seven Grammy nods this year, making Eilish the youngest artist to be nominated twice in major categories–Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance—in Grammy history. Her video for the record’s title-track also snagged a nomination for Best Music Video, which she also directed.
Eilish most recently took her new record to Sesame Street, where she performed a duet with the Count in a Sesame-Street-approved rendition of “Happier Than Ever.”
