Lemonade arrived on April 23, 2016, through its same-titled film, which was soundtracked by the album’s songs, and premiered on HBO. The 12-song visual album was released by Parkwood/Columbia Records following the film’s debut, initially as an exclusive through Tidal.
With standouts like “Hold Up,” “Formation,” “All Night” and “Sorry,” Lemonade debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning Beyonce her sixth-chart topper. The set includes guest appearances by Jack White, James Blake, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar
Following its release, all 12 of the album’s songs debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. Lemonade was also 2016’s third-biggest-selling album and one of only two albums released that year to sell at least 1 million copies.
