As the first week of 2023 in music comes to a close, HYPEBEAST has rounded up the best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.

This week’s lineup is led by Lil Wayne with DMX and Swizz Beatz, and The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, who released the tracks “Kant Nobody” and “Die For You (Remix),” respectively. Also joining this selection are offerings from Gorillaz, Styles P with Brady Wyatt, Maxo, Don Toliver, Channel Tres, Yaeji, AUNDREY GUILLAUME. and Zack Bia with Lil Yachty and 347aidan.

Lil Wayne x DMX – “Kant Nobody”

Lil Wayne joins forces with DMX for his newest Swizz Beatz-produced track, “Kant Nobody.” The single features an intro from and samples the late artist, as well as hears Weezy pay homage to X.

The Weeknd x Ariana Grande – “Die For You (Remix)”

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande reunite for a remix of “Die For You,” which initially appeared in the former’s 2016 record Starboy. This collaborative effort marks a new joint for the two, who previously teamed up for the remix of “Save Your Tears,” “Off the Table” and “Love Me Harder.”

Gorillaz – Cracker Island

Gorillaz return with their first album in three years, Cracker Island, which features guest verses from Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Bootie Brown and Beck. “It’s nice to be back, I’m well into our new tune, it brings back weird and scary memories of stuff that hasn’t happened yet,” 2D said in a previous statement.

Styles P x Brady Wyatt – “Death Before Dishonor”

Styles P shares an accompanying music video for his Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf track “Death Before Dishonor,” which features Brady Wyatt. “After I did Bass & Bars with Brady Watt, we agreed that we’d be doing more sh*t together in the future. This song was that,” the LOX rapper shared in a statement. “As a 48 year old emcee, I like to step outside of my comfort zone, and I did that here. [‘Death Before Dishonor’] has a different feel not typical to Styles P, but still fits in with what I do. I didn’t even know Brady could sing or produce, but when he played me this track, I just followed my emcee intuition and started working on it right then and there.”

Don Toliver drops his third studio album Love Sick, featuring an interesting array of collaborators including Toro y Moi, James Blake, Kali Uchis, Wizkid, Justin Bieber and Future and more.

Maxo – Even God Has A Sense of Humor

Maxo celebrates his 28th birthday with the release his newest album, Even God Has A Sense Of Humor. The 14-track record features Liv.e, keiyaA and Pink Siifu, and “pays tribute to the mercurial nature of life.” The rapper shares, “Life is always gonna be life-ing.”

Channel Tres – Real Cultural Shit

Channel Tres drops his newest six-track EP Real Cultural Shit, which features the previously-released singles “6am” and “Just Can’t Get Enough.” Fans can catch the multi-hyphenate producer and singer is also going on his headlining tour from March to June, playing sets at the Okeechobee Festival, M3F Festival and more, as well as shows in Europe and the UK.

Zack Bia x Lil Yachty x 347aidan – “One of Those Days”

Zack Bia links up with Lil Yachty and 347aidan for his newest single, “One of Those Days.” The cut features a cover art designed by Verdy and hears Bia work on a “minimal, psychedelic pop” backdrop for Yachty and 347aidan.

New Gen: Fall 2022 honoree AUNDREY GUILLAUME. follows up his 2022 project ENERGY with COLD SUMMER. A playlist by AUNDREY GUILLAUME. The six-track project is billed as “a love story that takes the listener through an adventure between each track as if you were playing an actual video game.” The EP also arrives with an accompanying music video for “oowaa.,” with the artist stating, “’oowaa.,’ produced by J Myth, Bregma, and myself is a very uplifting track that takes you on a love story adventure. With jaw-dropping visuals, this record is definitely one if not my favorite track to date”.

Yaeji – “Done (Let’s Get It)”

Yaeji delivers the second single from her upcoming debut album With A Hammer, “Done (Let’s Get It).” The cut hears the the artist reflect “on the patterns, modes of thought and traumas we inherit from our ancestors, taking on the mission of smashing these inter-generational cycles as a path toward healing herself and the world,” and arrives with a visual directed by Yaeji herself that sees her and her grandfather dressed as bunny dogs in Seoul.
