Ben Shapiro Reads the Censored Lyrics to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘WAP’ & He Can’t Handle It

Ben Shapiro Reads the Censored Lyrics to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘WAP’ & He Can’t Handle It

Ben Shapiro joined the virtual conversation regarding Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” collaboration the rappers released last Friday (Aug. 7). But the conservative political commentator’s stiff line-by-line recitation of the censored lyrics became a major turn-off for Twitter users.

Shapiro dissected the hypersexual track and decoded its NSFW lyrics on his most recent episode of The Ben Shapiro Show Monday (Aug. 10), which also featured the censored music video playing in the background.

“Wet a– p-word, p-word is female genitalia,” he clarified while emphatically reading Cardi’s first verse. “And it gets significantly, significantly more vulgar, like a lot more vulgar.”

After wrapping up the verse, Shapiro went on to discuss how “WAP” represents the feminist movement as a whole. “Guys, this is what feminists fought for,” he claimed during his radio segment. “This is what the feminist movement is all about. It’s not really about women being treated as independent, full-rounded human beings. It’s about wet a– p-word. And if you say anything differently, [it’s] because you’re a misogynist, you see.”

While Twitter users went on to remix the viral music video with auto-tuned snippets of Shapiro’s raw audio filling in for the Grammy-winning lead artist, some explained how The Daily Wire editor-in-chief had the opposite effect of what the song is centered on. “Ben Shapiro reading the lyrics out loud just dried up all the WAPs in the world,” comedian Matt Braunger wrote, while others described it as the “most effective” method of “WAP” prevention.

Seeing his viral video, Shapiro took to Twitter to explain himself, writing, “Listen, guys. I fully explained on the show that it’s misogynistic to question whether graphic descriptions of ‘wet-ass p****’ is empowering for women. ‘WAP’ is obviously an incredibly profound statement of women’s empowerment, a la Susan B. Anthony.” But the 36-year-old public speaker also described it as potentially needing medical care, given his wife’s doctor’s diagnosis.
