Bella Hadid has announced that she will be making her acting debut on the third season of Hulu‘s Emmy-nominated comedy Ramy.
Ramy is created and executive produced by Ramy Youssef, who also stars as the main character in the show. Bella Hadid’s exact role in her first scripted TV series has yet to be revealed, though initial reports indicate it will be a recurring role. Season 3 will see Ramy pull away from his spiritual journey and dedicate himself to him and his uncle’s diamond business. Below is a full synopsis of the upcoming season:
Ramy follows first-generation, Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (Youssef) and his family as they navigate spirituality in their politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy brings a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it’s like to be caught between a religious community who believes life is a moral test, and a millennial generation that doubts an afterlife even exists. In the third season, his family is forced to confront having lived a life dedicated to worldly concerns — and in some cases, lies — while Ramy all but abandons his spiritual journey, instead dedicating himself to him and his uncle’s diamond business.
Hadid’s move from the runway follows similar transitions made by other high-profile supermodels including Cara Delevigne‘s successful transition into a range of major acting roles in Paper Towns and Suicide Squad, as well as Jung Ho-yeon‘s breakout performance in Netflix‘s Squid Game, by which she recently won the 2022 SAG Award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
