The virtual DC FanDome 2021 certainly did not disappoint this year as it unveiled a whole new assortment of news, trailers and series celebrations for of DC comic book movies, Actual Comics and TV Shows. And during this year’s virtual event, one of the forthcoming motion pictures that revealed a special behind-the-scenes look was Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom that will be arriving in theaters in 2022.
James Wan — who directed the first solo Aquaman film in 2018 — is called back to helm the sequel, and Jason Momoa returns as the main character in Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Other returning cast members include that of Patrick Wilson who plays Orm aka Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Amber Heard who stars as Mera, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as marine biologist Dr. Stephen Shin. Additionally, Temuera Morrison is brought back as Arthur’s father Thomas.
In the BTS footage shown above, we capture a first glance at new costumes such as Momoa’s tough black Aquaman number along with fresh conceptual art that reflects the movie’s new settings. “It’s a globe-trotting story, we visit so many different worlds”, Wan says. “This movie isn’t afraid to embrace its fantasy and go on this magical journey.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is going to be repleted with action, some of which will ential Black Manta fishing out revenge on Curry for murdering his father in the first film as well as the comeback of Orm as a villian.
