Bandcamp announces remaining Bandcamp Fridays for 2024

Bandcamp announces remaining Bandcamp Fridays for 2024

Bandcamp has revealed it will hold three more Bandcamp Fridays in 2024, during which the music platform will waive its revenue share for 24 hours and give 100% of sales directly to artists and labels. The first of the announced Bandcamp Fridays is today (September 6th), with the next two following on October 4th and December 6th.

Bandcamp Fridays began in March 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and has put over $120 million from music and merch purchases directly into the pockets of artists and labels. It’s also hosted charity compilations like Noise for Now’s Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All, which raised over $230,000 during its 24-hour window.

“Bandcamp provided us with the ideal platform to maximize our fundraising impact,” said Noise for Now Executive Director Amellia Bauer in a statement. “Released for 24 hours only on a Bandcamp Friday in 2022, the benefit compilation Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access [to] All was able to raise $231,000 — all without platform fees. We are grateful to Bandcamp for being the most artist-friendly platform around.”

After pausing Bandcamp Fridays at the end of 2021, the platform brought the initiative back in 2022. There have been several this year, most recently on May 3rd.

In September 2023, Bandcamp was acquired by music licensing platform and marketplace company Songtradr from former owner Epic Games.
