British singer Bakar has released his first single of the year titled “Good News.” The genre-bending track first debuted at Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2023 Men’s show during Paris Fashion Week, offering a glimpse into the artist’s headspace following the release of his Nobody’s Home (2022) album.
“I can’t lie, man, I thought I lost it. Then you came along, made it feel like justice,” sings Bakar.
Taking a stripped-back approach, the track starts off with ambient tones and distorted strums, highlighting Bakar’s signature dreamy vocals. Drums come in later for a catchy rhythm as Bakar sings of his hopes to hear good news from his muse.
“You moved out of town. I heard through the grapevine, and not from your mouth. Either way I hope it’s good news,” he continues on the indie track.
Having released tracks anonymously on Soundcloud since 2015, Bakar released his debut single, “Big Dreams” in 2017 which was featured on the official FIFA 19 soundtrack. With an effortless knack for connecting fashion, culture, and music, he continues to build a soundscape and world of his own.
Looking ahead, Bakar is set to perform at Coachella later this year.
