AUDREY NUNA has tapped fellow genre-defier Teezo Touchdown to collaborate on her latest audiovisual venture. The duo proves to be a powerful one on the new track “Starving,” which finds the two creatives combining their distinct auras and aesthetics to present a captivating three-and-a-half-minute cut.
NUNA’s smooth vocals lead the dreamy track, complemented by Teezo’s punchy, witty run of bars about halfway through. “Starving” also sees South Korean R&B artist So!YoON! on guitar and Lauv on bass.
“The idea of starving is so universal. We all starve for something… food, attention, connection. The world is lacking a lot of love right now,” NUNA explained. “I feel really blessed to have Teezo on a song like this. It feels like such a departure from both of our sounds, but I think we’re both the type of people who don’t care for being put into boxes when it comes to sonics–or anything, really.”
The video focuses on two versions of NUNA: who she is and who she is becoming. Teezo appears in front of her to deliver his verse, as she indulges in sushi – and an array of bejeweled fruits – at the table behind him.
“‘Oh, now ima dog? Ur a vet.’ is probably my favorite line so far,” Teezo shared.
