Audi Introduces Updated A3 Sportback TFSI e

Audi has unveiled the new A3 Sportback TFSI e, featuring upgrades in performance and efficiency. With a new, more powerful high-voltage battery, the plug-in hybrid now boasts an electric range of up to 88 miles — more than double its previous capability. The model also introduces DC fast charging, a first for Audi’s plug-in hybrid lineup.

The A3 Sportback TFSI e comes in two variants: the 40 TFSI e, which delivers 150 kW (204 hp), and the sportier 45 TFSI e, which provides 200 kW (272 hp) of system output. Both models feature a new 1.5 TFSI evo2 engine paired with an electric motor, offering dynamic performance alongside lower fuel consumption. The duo is designed to provide swift acceleration, with the 45 TFSI e reaching 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

Efficiency is further enhanced by intelligent drive management, which enables the A3 to operate as a fully electric vehicle at low speeds, with seamless transitions between the electric motor and turbocharged engine. Recuperation technology allows the vehicle to recover energy during braking. Additionally, Audi’s new plug-in hybrid models come equipped with improved features like 17-inch alloy wheels, Audi’s virtual cockpit and sporty S line styling for the higher-performance 45 TFSI e.

Prices for the new A3 Sportback TFSI e start at $48,000 USD for the 40 TFSI e and $51,800 USD for the 45 TFSI e, with orders now open in select regions.
