Ariana Grande, Beyonce & More Vie for Hollywood Music in Media Awards: Complete Film Nominations List

Three films — King Richard, Don’t Look Up and No Time to Die — are nominated for both song — feature film and score — feature film. Britell is the only individual nominated in both of those marquee categories. He is nominated for scoring Don’t Look Up and for co-writing that film’s stand-out song, “Just Look Up.” Kris Bowers is nominated for scoring King Richard; Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Dixson are nominated for co-writing that film’s key song, “Be Alive.” Hans Zimmer is nominated for scoring No Time to Die; Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connor are nominated for co-writing that film’s title song.

The HHMA added a new category this year, outstanding onscreen performance in a film. The category recognizes an on-screen performance of an outstanding song (original or pre-existing). Grande is nominated both in that category and for song – feature film for “Just Look Up” from Don’t Look Up.

Jennifer Hudson is also nominated in both categories, but with different songs from Respect, the Aretha Franklin biopic in which she stars. She is nominated for song – feature film for “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” which she co-wrote with Carole King and Jamie Hartman, and for outstanding onscreen performance in a film for her rendition of Franklin’s 1967 classic, “Respect.”

The other nominees for song – feature film not already named are “Every Letter” from Cyrano (Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Matt Berninger and Carin Besser) and “My Father’s Daughter” from Flag Day (Glen Hansard & Eddie Vedder).

The other nominees for score – feature film not already named are Nightmare Alley (Nathan Johnson), Stillwater (Mychael Danna), The French Dispatch (Alexandre Desplat), The Last Duel (Harry Gregson-Williams) and The Power of the Dog (Jonny Greenwood).

Recent HMMA winners who went on to win Oscars include Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste for Soul, Hildur Guðnadóttir for Joker, Ludwig Göransson for Black Panther and Alexandre Desplat for The Shape Of Water, as well as songs from Judas & the Black Messiah, La La Land, A Star Is Born and more.

The awards will be presented Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. (PST).
