An analyst that closely follows Apple product developments believes that the next installment in the iPhone series is slated for release in September.
Spotted by MacRumors, a note to investors from an analyst at Wedbush Securities, Daniel Ives, details that the iPhone 13 is set to launch in the third week of September.
“Our recent Asia supply chain checks for 2H put iPhone builds between 130M-150M,” the investor note seen by MacRumors said. “The iPhone 13 appears to represent 35%-45% of iPhone builds in Q3, this positive outlook gives us enhanced confidence that 2021’s launch timing will be “normal”. From a timing perspective, we believe the current iPhone 13 launch is slated for the third week in September.”
Breaking down the estimated time frame further, Forbes estimates that pre-orders for the iPhone 13 would open on September 14, since “historically Apple announces new iPhones on Tuesdays and launches them (pre-order) on Fridays.” The purported release date is a return to Apple’s normal schedule after last year’s iPhone 12 was delayed until October due to the pandemic.
In its recent third-quarter report, Apple said it pulled in $81.4 billion USD in revenue, making it the company’s best third quarter in history.
Mockups for the forthcoming iPhone 13 models have previewed that the iPhone 13 Pro Max will be larger than its iPhone 12 counterpart and that the entire iPhone 13 line will feature a new camera orientation, with lenses fixed diagonally from each other instead of vertically. The iPhone 13 is also rumored to have a new 120Hz display for improved battery life and may even arrive alongside the anticipated shorter-stemmed Apple AirPods 3.
