Apple Unveils All-In-One Subscription Bundle

Apple Unveils All-In-One Subscription Bundle

Apple will bundle some of its subscription services together for discount.

Customers who want to buy subscriptions to Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and iCloud storage will soon be able to do so for a combined price that starts at $15 per month.

The company has unveiled Apple One, a series of bundles of its various services. Plans range in monthly price from $15 to $30 depending on how many people are accessing the bundle and what offerings are included.

The Apple One individual plan will cost $15 per month and includes Music, TV+, Arcade and 50GB of iCloud storage. The family plan, which includes access for up to six people, features the same mix of services and more cloud storage for $20 per month. The premiere plan, which also includes access for up to six people, adds News+ and newly announced fitness offering Fitness+ for $30 per month.

Apple is offering a 30-day free trial of all three plans, which will become available this fall. The premier plan will initially launch without Fitness+, which will roll out later this year.

The individual and family plans equate to a discount of around $6 and $8, respectively, from what it would cost to subscribe to each service individually. The premier plan costs about $25 less than the wholesale price of each service. But the Apple One bundles offer little flexibility for subscribers who may want some, but not all, of the services offered.

The tech giant made the announcement Tuesday morning during a live-streamed product presentation, in which it also announced its next-generation Apple Watch and an iPad.

Apple has been investing in its services business in recent years as it looks to become less reliant on device sales. In the past year it has rolled out entertainment service TV+ and game subscription offering Apple Arcade, adding to 5-year-old Apple Music, which has more than 50 million paying members. The company also sells subscriptions to iCloud and counts revenue from the App Store in this category.

In its most recent quarter, Apple earned $13.2 billion from its service offerings, meeting its goal of doubling the division’s 2017 revenue six months ahead of schedule.

The Nov. 1 launch of TV+ has created a new role for Apple as a buyer of film and TV programming. Under the leadership of Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, the company has debuted drama The Morning Show, comedy Ted Lasso and Tom Hanks film Greyhound. Apple has not disclosed how many subscribers it has attracted to TV+, which is free for a year for people who purchased select devices.

Service bundles have become common as subscription offerings proliferate for everything from music to entertainment programming to fitness. Disney is currently offering a discounted bundle for access to its three streaming services: Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. Amazon also bundles Prime Video and Prime Music in with its annual Prime subscription for free shipping.
