Apple could just be introducing their lowest-cost 5G iPhone later this year. Apple rumors have hinted that the company’s third generation iPhone SE will receive an upgrade and kick off Apple’s slew of new products.
According to Investor’s Business Daily, as of now, Apple has yet to upgrade its entry-level iPhone SE. The 4G model currently starts at $399 USD and Apple’s cheapest 5G smartphone, the iPhone 12 Mini starts at $599 USD. Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives seems to believe that Apple will continue with its $399 USD price, but has not ruled out a lower price for the new offerings. Ives said, “Apple needs to make sure that it doesn’t outprice itself in the midst of the strongest iPhone upgrade cycle it’s had since 2015.
The iPhone SE is likely due for an upgrade and fans are expected to receive 5G wireless capability, too. There is also a possibility that the phone will sport Apple’s most current A15 chip, giving the iPhone SE a significant upgrade in its processor. New leaks point to Apple’s next launch event on or near March 8. Other rumors heard through the grapevine include Apple’s iPad-MacBook hybrid and a release of a new line of MacBooks and iMacs with the M2 chip.
