Aphex Twin, a.k.a. Richard David James, is a pioneering electronic music producer and composer whose innovative and experimental approach to sound has significantly influenced the evolution of electronic music, particularly the IDM genre. Needless to say, his qualifications far exceed those of a wedding DJ—yet, over the weekend, he took on that role.
As initially documented on TikTok, Aphex Twin DJed at a friend’s wedding over the weekend. Footage from his set was posted online (see below), showing the musician performing near the dance floor with visuals projected on a screen in the background. Among the tracks he played was “The Bells” by drum and bass producer Jonny L.
Aphex Twin is set to celebrate of his 1994 sophomore studio album Selected Ambient Works Volume II with a new box set, arriving on October 4th. Pre-orders for the expanded edition are now ongoing.
