Anthony Kim Is Reportedly Planning a Return to Pro Golf

The enigmatic Anthony Kim has spent the last few months talking with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf about returning to the professional game, reports GOLF.com. Now 38 years old, Kim’s last tournament was in 2012 when he suffered an injury, and is rumored to have stayed away from the tour since in order to collect an insurance payment of $10-20 million USD.

Originally launching his PGA Tour career in 2006, Kim won three times on tour in six full seasons, during which he earned a total of over $12 million USD and rose to a peak of 6 in the world rankings in 2008. His exploits led him to be identified as one of the best up-and-coming players in the game, while at the same time garnering as reputation as a “loose cannon” who prioritized the high life over athletic success. Stories of Kim’s party habits run rampant on the internet, but it was an injury to his Achilles tendon that eventually led him to rethink his career.

Now, sources tell GOLF that Kim has been intensifying his workout routine and playing more rounds of golf with a return to competitive play imminent. The question appears not to be if he’ll return, but where he’ll return. With LIV Golf offering guaranteed money to players upon signing, such a prospect could be appealing amidst an uncertain future. We’ll continue updating this story as developments arise.
