Singer/songwriter Angel Olsen ruminates on such weighty topics as coming out as queer and the death of her parents on her new album, Big Time, which will be released June 3 by Jagjaguwar. The organ-flecked first single “All the Good Times” is out now and features Olsen and her partner in the Kimberly Stuckwisch-directed music video.

Olsen started recording Big Time within weeks of both of her parents passing away. She had also just come out to them, about which she admits, “some experiences just make you feel as though you’re five years old, no matter how wise or adult you think you are. Finally, at the ripe age of 34, I was free to be me.”
The album was co-produced by Olsen with Jonathan Wilson at his Fivestar Studios in Topanga, Calif. Longtime bandmate Emily Elhaj played bass, while Drew Erickson contributed piano, organ and string arrangements. Big Time is the follow-up to 2019’s All Mirrors and comes on the heels of Olsen’s hit collaboration with Jagjaguwar label mate Sharon Van Etten on the 2021 single “Like I Used To.”
In an effort to offset carbon emissions, Jagjaguwar is adding an additional charge to every CD and LP copy of Big Time ordered directly from the artist or label store. This will result in a carbon negative product that encompasses energy use associated with mining the materials, pressing and shipping and the electricity consumed by the purchaser’s home stereo.
Olsen, Van Etten, Julien Baker and Spencer will embark on The Wild Hearts tour beginning July 21 in Vienna, Va. A newly announced solo fall European tour starts with a Sept. 26-27 stand in Lisbon.
